2025 Updates for Private Candidates
The private candidatesā€™ registration exercise for the 2025 Singapore-Cambridge GCE-Level examinations will commence from 2 April 2025 (Wednesday), 9.00am to 15 April 2025 (Tuesday), 11.00pm. Registration will be via the Candidates Portal.
Key information about the eligibility criteria, registration guidelines, procedures and examination fees are presented below. You should read the Registration Information e-bookletfor the details.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND REGISTRATION GUIDELINES
The minimum age requirements and maximum number of subjects allowed for each examination level are:

Please note the following guidelines:

For school candidates studying in Government/ Government-Aided/ Independent/ Specialised schools, you cannot register as a private candidate.

For private candidates, you are allowed to register for more than one GCE-Level examination (e.g. GCE O-Level and A-Level). However, you cannot register for both the GCE-Level examinations and admission tests i.e. Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) and School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans-Secondary (SPERS-Sec), in the same examination year.
While most subjects in the national examinations do not have a pre-requisite criteria, there are certain subjects with their specific eligibility criteria. Please refer to the Registration Information e-booklet.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
For Singaporean/ Singapore Permanent Residents/ Foreign Identification Number (FIN) holders)
If you are a Singaporean or a Singapore Permanent Resident or a FIN holder using FIN Identification Number, you must register for the examination with your Singpass credentials in the Candidates Portal.
You may refer to the guide for Singpass users for the steps to register for the examinations.
Please ensure that your Singpass is activated before the start of registration. Please visit the Singpass website for details on how to register or activate your Singpass account. Please cater sufficient time for these activities to prevent delays in registration.
For Foreign passport holders
If you are using a foreign passport number to register for the examination, please create an account in the Candidates Portal.

EXAMINATION FEES
Fees payable
The examination fees for this yearā€™s subjects can be found in the Registration Information e-booklet. All
fees are inclusive of GST at the prevailing rate.
The examination fees are dependent on the subjects you are registering
for and your citizenship status at the point of registration. Your examination
fees will not be refunded if your citizenship status is changed after your
registration.
Please ensure that you provide correct citizenship information during registration. Candidates will be required to pay for the differences in the registration fees if incorrect information is provided.
Mode of payment
You must pay your examination fees via a credit/debit card or PayNow in
the Candidates Portal before
the registration deadline of 15 April 2025, 11.00pm. You
will not be registered for the examinations if payment is made after this
deadline.
You cannot use the funds in your Edusave account and Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) to pay for the examination fees.
ENTRY PROOF
Entry Proof for Mid-Year and Year-End Examinations
Please refer to the important dates for candidates for the timelines in which you would receive your Entry Proof.
You may be posted to different examination centres for the various Mode of Assessment (MOA) i.e. Oral, Science Practical, Written examinations. As such, it is important to check the venue indicated in your Entry Proof before the examinations.
If you have registered for the Science Practical examinations, please note that the venues and reporting timings are not indicated on your Entry Proof as the information will only be made available at least 7 days before each of your examinations via email. Please refer below for more information.

Please print your Entry Proof as you are required to bring it for your examinations for attendance verification.
Science Practical Examination Schedule
The assigned examination centres and reporting time for your Science Practical examination will be communicated to you at least 7 days before the examinations via email. Please ensure that your email address is valid to receive the email.
Please contact SEAB if you have not received the examination schedules 7 days before your Science Practical examination date.
Subject amendments
All amendments of subjects (including deleting of subjects) must be made through the Candidates Portal by 28 May 2025, 11:00pm. Amendment requests via email or phone call will not be accepted. A fee of $30 (inclusive of GST) per subject is payable if you make amendments after you have paid your examination fees, or after the registration deadline of 15 April 2025, 11.00pm. This excludes the fee for each of your added subjects. The fees for the added subjects are inclusive of GST.
WITHDRAWAL FROM ENTIRE EXAMINATION
All applications for withdrawals must be made through the Candidates Portal by 1 September 2025. Withdrawal requests made after this date will not be considered and candidates will receive an Absent grade for the subjects they did not sit for.
Withdrawal with refund of the subject fees
a) A 50% refund of the subject fees paid will be provided if your withdrawal request is submitted to SEAB by 25 June 2025, 11.00pm and you have not sat for any component of the registered subjects that you are withdrawing from.
b) A 100% refund of the subject fees paid will be provided if you have been admitted to a tertiary Institution after registration and your withdrawal request is submitted via the Candidates Portal with the supporting documents confirming your tertiary admission by 25 June 2025, 11.00pm. The letter of acceptance from tertiary institutions for admission to a full-time course must be issued within the year 2025 and dated after the date you have registered for examination.
Please note that late registration fee and subject amendment fees are non-refundable. You will receive your refund approximately one month after your withdrawal request has been approved by SEAB.
