Train Disruption Advice

Instructions for examination candidates affected by a train service disruption.

If you encounter a train disruption during any of your examination days, you should:

  • Inform your school, and continue to make your way to your school.
    • Please be assured that you will be given the full duration to sit for your paper, as long as you arrive before the end of your paper.
    • If you arrive at your school after the paper has ended, please inform your school leader or teacher immediately.
    • You are not required to obtain and produce an excuse letter or travel chit from the MRT station for your examinations.
  • Get updates from the train station that you are at regarding the bridging transport services that are available. You may approach the train station’s passenger service centre for assistance if required.

    • Please be assured that you will be given the full duration to sit for your paper, as long as you arrive before the end of your paper.
    • You are not required to obtain and produce an excuse letter or travel chit from the MRT station for your examinations.
  • Get updates from the train station that you are at regarding the bridging transport services that are available. You may approach the train station’s passenger service centre for assistance if required.
If your paper is not held at a centralised examination centre and you are unable to reach your designated school or examination centre before the end of your paper, you should:
  • Inform your school or examination centre, before proceeding to an examination centre closest to you to take your examination. Report to the Chief Presiding Examiner of the centre. You will be given the full duration of your paper.
  • Inform your school or examination centre if you are unable to reach an examination centre in time.
  • You are not required to obtain and produce an excuse letter or travel chit from the MRT station for your examinations.
If your paper is held at a centralised examination centre, you should:
  • Report to your designated examination centre as indicated in your entry proof, even if you are unable to reach your examination centre before the end of the paper.
  • Report to the Chief Presiding Examiner of your examination centre upon your arrival. You will be given the full duration of your paper.
  • You can refer to the list of papers held at centralised examination centres. For these papers, you should report to the designated exam centre indicated in your entry proof even if you are unable to reach before the end of the paper.
  • You are not required to obtain and produce an excuse letter or travel chit from the MRT station for your examinations.

During the national examinations, the lists of secondary schools, junior colleges and centralised institutes that are located near each MRT station will be made available at all MRT stations.

You may also download the Singapore Land Transport Authority’s  MyTransport.SG mobile application, and access the “Exam Centre” option to obtain the lists. MyTransport.SG mobile application can be downloaded from App Store® and Google Play™.

If you are unable to arrive at a suitable examination centre until after your paper has ended, you should still report to your school or designated examination centre:
  • If you are a school candidate, inform your school.
  • If you are a private candidate, report to the Chief Presiding Examiner of your examination centre or contact SEAB.

You are not required to obtain and produce an excuse letter or travel chit from the MRT station for your examinations.
